Sam Waagen, PT, DPT

image5Sam joins our team with an impressive record of success with orthopaedic and pain patients.  He received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2012 from Virginia Commonwealth University and his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from James Madison University in 2009. Sam works with a wide variety of orthopaedic conditions, including dysfunction of the spine, the shoulder, the knee, and the foot and ankle. He has specific experience working with patients suffering from chronic pain and other complex musculoskeletal disorders. He also has a passion for sports medicine and has clinical experience working with all ages of athletes.

Sam believes in an active approach to physical therapy, incorporating both manual therapy techniques with therapeutic exercises specifically tailored for the patient. Along with being a member of both the APTA and VPTA, Sam is also a member of the Orthopaedic and Sports sections.

He is originally from Herndon, Virginia, and now resides in Richmond. In his free time, Sam competes in triathlons at all distances and is an active member of the Richmond Triathlon Club. He also enjoys the many outdoor activities here in Richmond with his fiancé and their golden retriever, Brody.
