Sam Waagen, PT, DPT, OCS, Cert. DN

Sam received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2012 from Virginia Commonwealth University and his undergraduate degree in Exercise Science from James Madison University in 2009. He works with a wide variety of orthopedic conditions, including dysfunction of the spine, the shoulder, the knee, and the foot and ankle. He has specific experience working with patients suffering from chronic pain and other complex musculoskeletal disorders. He also has a passion for sports medicine and has clinical experience working with athletes of all ages.

Sam believes in an active approach to physical therapy, incorporating manual therapy techniques with therapeutic exercises specifically tailored for the patient. He is also certified in dry needling from the Dry Needling Institute and uses this modality for a wide variety of conditions that may not respond to traditional physical therapy.

He is originally from Herndon, Virginia, and now resides in Richmond. In his free time, Sam enjoys competing in endurance sports and rooting for all four D.C. professional sports teams. He also enjoys the many outdoor activities here in Richmond with his wife and their golden retriever, Brody.
