How to Make the Perfect Salad

When it comes to getting fit and healthy most people find it easier to get moving than to change their eating habits. Making the switch to a diet rich in healthy fresh vegetables and salads can feel like a big undertaking when you’re accustomed to a steak entree.

If you’re just starting our here are 4 tips on how to make the perfect healthy salad.

  1. Find the Freshest Ingredients
    Fresh vegetables have a lot more flavor than their more tired relatives. When you’re looking for ingredients to add to your salad, make sure you’re using the freshest, ripest produce available.
  2. Employ Your Seasoning Arsenal
    Chives, green onion, paprika, black pepper- these seasonings can add a ton of punch to your basic leafy salad without adding a ton of calories. Don’t be afraid to try new flavors and switch things up!
  3. Let Your Imagination Run Wild
    Don’t be afraid to experiment with flavors and textures. Add crunch with edible snap peas or seeds. Try smoother consistencies by tossing in some salsa or hummus. If leafy greens aren’t your thing try a simple combo of shredded carrots and celery as the base for your salad.
  4. Dress It Up
    Every salad loves a dressing. Make sure you toss it well to evenly distribute it across the salad. Also, always opt for vinaigrette over a creamy dressing for less calories!
